Learn Polo
Its easier than you think
The HAC was one of the first organisations to completely overhaul the approach to how polo is taught. Borrowing from the military training practice of having a structured and detailed program of training with specific goals we devised a three phased approach to learning to play polo.
Taster Days
First and foremost before anyone signs up for a HAC Polo course we encourage those interested to attend our taster days. We believe if you're going to commit to the sport you should be comfortable about what it will involve, both in time and money to ensure you'll truly enjoy it. Above all the taster days are a great opportunity to ask any questions about the sport and the courses. You also get to meet the like-minded people you're likely to learn alongside.
Phase 1 Course - Novice
This course is designed for the complete beginner. It assumes you've never riden before and takes you from the basics of riding to the basics of the sport of polo. It introduces players to concepts such as Line of Ball and Right of Way.
Phase 2 Course - Intermediate
Assumes you have ridden before and understand the fundamentals of the polo game. This course is designed to help the player progress by understanding the tactics and teamwork that helps make a team. At the end you will be encouraged to sit the umpires exam.
Phase 3 Course - Advanced
As an established player this course is flexible and is designed for you to receive one to one tuition on the areas of the polo you need to work on.
Training weekends
As well as courses for individuals to learn the game we also hold squad training weekends. Its no use having 4 good players on a pitch if they fail to develop as a team. These weekends focus primarily on teamwork, passing and positioning with members of the squads which normally expect to play alongside each other.
