The Regiment
HAC - At the forefront of current operations
The Honourable Artillery Company is the oldest surviving regiment in the British Army. The HAC is the only dedicated Surveillance and Target Acquisition (STA) Regiment. It has a demanding and vital role in the British Army providing discreet patrols to operate deep in hostile territory without support for extended periods. It provides target information and intelligence for the deep strike systems of the British Army and NATO (such as the Multiple Launch Rocket System and strike aircraft). The Regiment is organised into three Patrol Squadrons, a Headquarters Squadron, a Liaison Troop and a Regimental Band and Corps of Drums.
The HAC has always got members deployed on operations in various different roles. They range from surveillance roles to FSTs (Fire Support Teams), radar and signals, intelligence and logistics.
The Regiment also has a unique ceremonial role in the City of London providing the Saluting Battery at the Tower of London and Guards of Honour for State Occasions.
